Your baby is about the size of an apple.

Common this week: Leg cramps, Back pain, Skin darkening, Increased appetite, Congestion.
Baby development
- The baby's legs are now longer than the arms.
- Tasting is beginning — amniotic fluid takes on the flavour of foods you eat.
- The eyes can detect light even though eyelids remain closed.
- Hair is developing on the scalp.
Changes for you
- You may feel more like yourself again as energy returns.
- The uterus can now be felt just below the navel.
- Skin changes may continue — some women notice dark patches (chloasma/melasma).
- Leg cramps at night can begin and are very common throughout pregnancy.
Tips
- Stretch your calves before bed to help prevent leg cramps.
- Wear sunscreen daily if spending time outdoors — chloasma can be worsened by sun exposure.
- Eat calcium-rich foods (dairy, tofu, fortified plant milks) to support baby's bone development.
- Discuss the morphology scan (due weeks 18–20) with your doctor and book it now.

- Book your morphology scan — ideally around weeks 18–20.
Warning signs
- Severe leg pain or swelling (DVT risk is higher in pregnancy)
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain
