Your baby is about the size of a strawberry.

Baby development
- Your baby is officially called a fetus from this week — all organs are formed.
- Vital organs are beginning to function: kidneys are filtering, liver is producing blood cells.
- Tooth buds are forming for all 20 baby teeth.
- The baby can now swallow and the diaphragm is developing.
Changes for you
- The first trimester screen (nuchal translucency scan + blood tests) will be offered 11–13 weeks.
- Skin may change — some experience a "glow", others get pimples.
- Nausea may very slowly begin to improve for some women.
- You may notice a faint dark line (linea nigra) beginning to appear on the abdomen.
Tips
- Book your nuchal translucency (NT) scan now — it must be done between 11 weeks 3 days and 13 weeks 6 days.
- Stay hydrated and snack regularly to maintain blood sugar.
- Light prenatal yoga can help with back pain and anxiety.
- Talk to your employer soon about your pregnancy — you are protected by Australian workplace law from discrimination.

- Combined first trimester screen blood test.

- The NT scan in Australia is Medicare-rebatable when done between 11w3d–13w6d. It screens for chromosomal abnormalities and checks the baby's heartbeat and size.
- Under the Fair Work Act 2009, you are entitled to unpaid parental leave after 12 months of employment with one employer.
