Your baby is about the size of a head of broccoli.

Baby development
- The baby responds to touch — poking the belly gently may get a response.
- Hair on the scalp is growing.
- The nostrils are opening and the baby practises breathing movements.
- Blood pressure and heartbeat are more regulated.
Changes for you
- You may notice the top of the uterus sitting above the navel.
- Heartburn becomes more persistent as the uterus pushes the stomach upward.
- Pelvic pressure and discomfort as the baby descends slightly.
- Varicose veins and haemorrhoids may worsen.
Tips
- Eat smaller, more frequent meals and stay upright for 30 minutes after eating to manage heartburn.
- Elevate the head of your bed slightly with a wedge pillow.
- Witch hazel pads or icepack-wrapped in a cloth can soothe haemorrhoids.
- Ask your GP about safe antacids if heartburn is severe.

- GD test if not done.
- Routine antenatal check.

- Painful or swollen leg (DVT)
- Sudden breathlessness or chest pain
- Signs of preeclampsia

- DVT (deep vein thrombosis) risk is elevated in pregnancy. If one leg is significantly more swollen, hot, or painful than the other, seek urgent medical attention.
