Week 1
Your baby is about the size of a microscopic dot.

Baby development
- Weeks 1–2 are counted from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), before conception occurs.
- Your body is preparing for ovulation — follicles in the ovaries are maturing.
- The uterine lining is thickening to create a nourishing environment.
Changes for you
- You may be experiencing your period or it is ending this week.
- Hormones (FSH and LH) are rising to trigger egg development.
- No pregnancy symptoms yet — conception has not happened.
Tips
- Start taking a folic acid supplement (400–500 mcg daily) if you haven't already — consult your GP or pharmacist.
- Begin tracking your cycle to help identify your fertile window.
- Eat a balanced diet rich in folate: leafy greens, legumes, and fortified cereals.
- Avoid alcohol, smoking, and recreational drugs from now on.

- Heavy or unusual bleeding
